Messengers! Partake of the things that are clean, and act righteously. I know well all that you do. 51 Verily this your order is one order, and I am your Lord, so fear Me. 52 The people divided themselves into many sects, each with their own book and each happy with whatever they had. 53 So leave them in their error for a time. 54 Do they think that by what We aid them with of wealth and children, 55 We vie in good works for them? Nay, but they are not aware. 56 Verily those who for fear of their Lord are in awe. 57 and those who believe in the signs of their Lord 58 and those who associate naught with their Lord 59 And those who give what they give and their hearts fear for they have to return to their Lord. 60 those, hasten in good works, outracing to them. 61 We do not burden a soul beyond capacity, for We have a record that tells the truth. No wrong will be done to any one. 62 On the contrary, their hearts are in neglect of this and their works are different than those of the believers, the works that they are doing. 63 But when We will strike with torment those (unbelievers) who are rich, they will start to cry for help. 64 Implore not today; verily ye from Us are not to be succoured. 65 Surely My signs have been rehearsed unto you, and upon your heel ye were wont to draw back. 66 behaving arrogantly, and making fun, and talking nonsense (about the Book in your nightly chats)." 67 Then have they not reflected over the Qur'an, or has there come to them that which had not come to their forefathers? 68 Or do they not recognise their Messenger, that they deny him? 69 Do they say he is possessed? Rather he has brought them the truth, but most of them are averse to the truth. 70 But if the truth were in accord with their own likes and dislikes, the heavens and the earth would surely have fallen into ruin, and all that lives in them [would long ago have perished]! Nay, [in this divine writ] We have conveyed unto them all that they ought to bear in mind: and from this their reminder they [heedlessly] turn away! 71 Or is it that you (O Muhammad SAW) ask them for some wages? But the recompense of your Lord is better, and He is the Best of those who give sustenance. 72 Indeed you are calling them to a Straight Path, 73 but, behold, those who will not believe in the life to come are bound to deviate from that way. 74 ۞ And even were We to show them mercy and remove whatever distress might befall them [in this life,] they would still persist in their overweening arrogance, blindly stumbling to and fro. 75 And We had gripped them with suffering [as a warning], but they did not yield to their Lord, nor did they humbly supplicate, [and will continue thus] 76 Until when We open upon them a door of severe chastisement, lo! they are in despair at it. 77
