And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 They will say while they dispute therein, 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 no caring friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
