Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 Do not betray me 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
