And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
