Thamood, belied their Messengers. 141 When their brother Saleh said to them: "Will you not take heed?" 142 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you 143 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 144 For this I ask of you no wage; my wage falls only upon the Lord of the Worlds. 145 Will ye be left secure in that which is here before us, 146 In gardens and watersprings. 147 and cornfields, and palm-trees laden with fruit -- 148 “And you carve out dwellings in the mountains, with skill?” 149 So fear Allah and obey me. 150 "And follow not the command of Al-Musrifun [i.e. their chiefs, leaders who were polytheists, criminals and sinners], 151 who spread evil in the land with no reform." 152 They said, 'Thou art merely one of those that are bewitched; 153 Thou art but a human being like unto us. So bring thou a sign if thou art of the truth-tellers. 154 He said: yonder is a she-camel; to her a drink, and to you a drink, each on a day known. 155 And touch her not with ill, lest there take hold of you the torment of a Mighty Day. 156 But they hamstrung her, then regretted; 157 and the punishment seized them. Surely, in that there is a sign. Yet most of them do not believe. 158 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 159
