The prople of Lout (Lot) (those dwelt in the towns of Sodom in Palestine) belied the Messengers. 160 Behold, their brother Lut said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 161 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 162 "So fear Allah and obey me. 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage is only with the Lord of the Worlds. 164 What, of all creation will you go to (fornicate with) the males, 165 And leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are froward folk. 166 They said: "If thou desist not, O Lut! thou wilt assuredly be cast out!" 167 He said: "I do detest your doings." 168 "O my Lord! deliver me and my family from such things as they do!" 169 So We saved him and his family, all, 170 Except an old woman who lingered behind. 171 Thereafter We annihilated the rest. 172 And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned. 173 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 174 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might Most Merciful. 175
