[AND] the people of Lot gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 160 Their brother Lot asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 161 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 162 So fear Allah, and obey me. 163 I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 164 What! do you come to the males from among the creatures 165 and leave your wives whom your Lord has created for you? No, but you are a transgressing nation' 166 They said: if thou desistest not, O Lut! thou shalt surely be of those driven forth. 167 He said, 'Truly I am a detester of what you do. 168 “My Lord, rescue me and my family from their deeds.” 169 So We saved him and his household, every one, 170 Except one old woman, who stayed behind. 171 Thereafter, We utterly destroyed the rest, 172 And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned. 173 In this there is an evidence of the Truth, but many of them did not have any faith. 174 Your Lord, He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 175
