The prople of Lout (Lot) (those dwelt in the towns of Sodom in Palestine) belied the Messengers. 160 When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear God? 161 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 162 "So fear Allah and obey me. 163 I seek of you no reward. My reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 164 What! Of all creatures do ye come unto the males, 165 "And leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your mates? Nay, ye are a people transgressing (all limits)!" 166 They said: "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will be expelled (from the city)." 167 He said, "I certainly hate what you practice. 168 [And then he prayed:] "O my Sustainer! Save me and my household from all that they are doing!" 169 So We delivered him and his people all together, 170 except an old woman who remained behind. 171 Then afterward We destroyed the others. 172 We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): and evil was the shower on those who were admonished (but heeded not)! 173 In this there is an evidence of the Truth, but many of them did not have any faith. 174 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
