The prople of Lout (Lot) (those dwelt in the towns of Sodom in Palestine) belied the Messengers. 160 when their brother Lot said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 161 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 162 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage is only with the Lord of the Worlds. 164 What, of all creation will you go to (fornicate with) the males, 165 and leave your wives whom your Lord has created for you? No, but you are a transgressing nation' 166 They said: if thou desistest not, O Lut! thou shalt surely be of those driven forth. 167 He said: "I am, indeed, of those who disapprove with severe anger and fury your (this evil) action (of sodomy). 168 My Lord, save me and my family from their evil doings." 169 Thereupon We saved him and all his household 170 save an old woman among those that tarried; 171 We then destroyed the others. 172 And We rained on them a rain. So ill was the rain on those warned? 173 Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 174 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 175
