The prople of Lout (Lot) (those dwelt in the towns of Sodom in Palestine) belied the Messengers. 160 When their brother Lut said unto them: fear ye not? 161 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 162 "So fear Allah and obey me. 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 164 What, of all creation will you go to (fornicate with) the males, 165 And leave what your Lord has created for you of your wives? Nay, you are a people exceeding limits. 166 They said: if thou desistest not, O Lut! thou shalt surely be of those driven forth. 167 He said, "Indeed, I am, toward your deed, of those who detest [it]. 168 “My Lord, rescue me and my family from their deeds.” 169 So We delivered him and his people all together, 170 Except one old woman who remained behind. 171 Thereafter, We utterly destroyed the rest, 172 by pouring upon them a terrible shower of rain. How evil was the rain for those who had been warned! 173 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not Muslims. 174 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
