The dwellers of the wood belied the sent ones. 176 What time Shu'aib said unto them: fear ye not? 177 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 178 So fear God and follow me. 179 And I ask of you no hire therefor; and my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 180 ۞ "Maintain just measure in your business and do not cause loss to others. 181 and [in all your dealings] weigh with a true balance, 182 And do not deprive people of their due and do not commit abuse on earth, spreading corruption. 183 So fear Him Who created you and the former generations. 184 They said: "Thou art only one of those bewitched! 185 You are nothing but a man like us, and we think you are a liar. 186 So cause to fall upon us fragments of the sky, if you should be of the truthful." 187 He said, "My Lord is most knowing of what you do." 188 But they belied him, then the punishment of the Day of Shadow (raining fire) seized them. Truly, it was the punishment of a dreadful day. 189 Lo! herein is indeed a portent; yet most of them are not believers. 190 And most surely your Lord is Mighty, the Merciful. 191
