The Romans (Al-Room)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ AlifLaamMeem. 1 The Romans have been defeated (by the Persians) 2 (within a few years) they will be victorious. 3 All matters of the past and future are in the hands of God. The believers will enjoy the help of God on that Day. 4 With the help of Allah, He helps whom He wills, and He is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 5 (This is) Allah's promise! Allah will not fail His promise, but most people do not know. 6 They know only some appearance of the life of the world, and are heedless of the Hereafter. 7 Do they not think deeply (in their ownselves) about themselves (how Allah created them from nothing, and similarly He will resurrect them)? Allah has created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, except with truth and for an appointed term. And indeed many of mankind deny the Meeting with their Lord. [See Tafsir At-Tabari, Part 21, Page 24]. 8 Have they not travelled through the land and seen what end their predecessors met? They were mightier than them: they cultivated the earth more and built more upon it than these have ever built. Their own messengers also came to them with clear signs: God did not wrong them; they wronged themselves. 9 Then the fate of those who committed evil to the extreme was that they denied the signs of Allah and used to mock at them. 10
