The unbelievers say: “We shall never believe in this Qur'an, nor in any Scripture before it.” If you could only see the wrong-doers arrayed before their Lord, each bandying charges against the other. Those who were suppressed will say to those who waxed arrogant: “Had it not been for you, we would have been believers.” 31 Those who were stiff-necked will say unto those who were deemed weak: was it we who prevented you from the guidance after it had come unto you? Aye! ye have been guilty yourselves. 32 Those that were abased will say to those who were proud: 'Rather, it was scheming night and day, when you ordered us to disbelieve in Allah and set up equals to Him' And they will regret in secret when they see the punishment and We put (iron) fetters on the necks of the unbelievers. Shall they be recompensed except for what they were doing? 33 And We sent not a warner unto a town but the affluent thereof said: verily in that wherewith ye have been sent we are disbelievers. 34 And they said, "We are more [than the believers] in wealth and children, and we are not to be punished." 35 Say: "Verily my Lord increases or restricts the provision of whosoever He will;" but most men do not understand. 36
