In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ya, Seen. 1 By the Quran, full of wisdom, 2 Lo! thou art of those sent 3 On a straight path. 4 This is a revelation sent down from the Majestic and All-merciful 5 That thou mayst warn a folk whose fathers were not warned, so they are heedless. 6 The Word is proved true against the greater part of them: for they do not believe. 7 We have enchained their necks up to their chins. Thus, they cannot bend their heads (to find their way). 8 And We have put a barrier before them, and a barrier behind them, and We have covered them up, so that they cannot see. 9 Whether you warn them or not, they will not believe. 10 Thou warnest only him who followeth the Reminder and feareth the Beneficent in secret. To him bear tidings of forgiveness and a rich reward. 11 Verily We! We shall quicken the dead. And We write down that which they send before and their footsteps. And everything We have counted up in a Book luminous. 12

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
