The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER these [messages] ranged in serried ranks, 1 by those who reprove severely, 2 By the angels reciting the praise. 3 Lo! thy Lord is surely One; 4 Lord of the heavens and of the earth and all that is between them, and Lord of the sun's risings. 5 We have adorned the lower heaven with the adornment of the stars 6 And to guard against every rebellious devil. 7 They cannot listen to the exalted assembly, and they are darted at from every side. 8 Outcast, and theirs is a constant (or painful) torment. 9 except such as snatches a fragment, and he is pursued by a piercing flame. 10 Just ask their opinion: are they the more difficult to create, or the (other) beings We have created? Them have We created out of a sticky clay! 11 Rather you are surprised, whereas they keep mocking. 12 And heed not when they are reminded, 13 And whenever they see a sign, they mock at it. 14 and say: "This is clearly nothing but [a mortal's] spellbinding eloquence! 15 Is it ever possible that after we die and are reduced to dust and (a skeleton of) bones, we will be raised to life? 16 "And also our fathers of old?" 17 Say thou: "Yea, and ye shall then be humiliated (on account of your evil)." 18 for that [resurrection which they deride] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry - and then, lo! they will begin to see [the truth] 19 and they will say: 'Woe for us. This is the Day of Recompense' 20 'This is the Day of Decision, even that you cried lies to. 21
