The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the aligners (angels) aligning. 1 By those (angels) who drive the clouds in a good way. 2 and those who recite Our revelations, 3 Lo! thy Lord is surely One; 4 Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them – and the Lord of the sun’s rising points. 5 Behold, We have adorned the skies nearest to the earth with the beauty of stars, 6 (For beauty) and for guard against all obstinate rebellious evil spirits, 7 so they cannot listen to the High Assembly, for they are pelted from every side. 8 With a driving fusillade, and theirs shall be a torment perpetual; 9 but if anyone does succeed in snatching a glimpse [of such knowledge,] he is [henceforth] pursued by a piercing flame. 10 So ask them if they are more difficult to create, or the rest We have created? Indeed (man) We created from fermented clay. 11 Nay, but whereas thou dost marvel, they [only] scoff; 12 and, when reminded, do not remember 13 And when they see a sign they incite one another to scoff, 14 And they say: this Qur'an is naught but magic manifest. 15 What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we be resurrected. 16 And our forefathers? 17 Say: 'Yes, but worthless' 18 So that is just a single jolt, thereupon they will begin staring. 19 And say: Ah, woe for us! This is the Day of Judgment. 20 This is the Day of Decision which you belied. 21
