۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 apart from God, and guide them unto the path of Hell! 23 and halt them [there]!" [And then,] behold, they shall be asked, 24 “What is the matter with you, that you do not help one another?” 25 In fact this day they have all surrendered. 26 And some of them shall advance towards others, questioning each other. 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 They will say: “Nay, you yourselves were not the ones who would believe. 29 we had no authority over you; no, you were an insolent people. 30 So our Lord's Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. 31 And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators." 32 Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment. 33 Even so We do with the sinners; 34 For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful 35 saying, 'What, shall we forsake our gods for a poet possessed?' 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 But the sincere servants of God 40 Those will have a provision determined - 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 in the Gardens of Bliss 43 facing one another [in love] upon thrones of happiness. 44 A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, 45 white, sparkling (wine), a delight to the drinkers. 46 Neither does it intoxicate, nor give a headache. 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected. 49 Then they will advance unto each other, mutually questioning. 50 one of them will say, "I had a friend, 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book? 53 Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" 54 Then he looks, and sees him in the midst of Hell. 55 He said, “By Allah, you had nearly ruined me!” 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 So, are we not going to die, 58 except for our first death? And shall we suffer no chastisement?'” 59 “This is, most certainly, the supreme success.” 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is this better as a welcome, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 Verily it is a tree that springeth forth in the bottom of Flaming Fire. 64 and its fruits are like the heads of devils. 65 and they eat of it, and of it fill their bellies, 66 then in addition to it they shall have a draught of boiling water to drink; 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 Indeed they found their fathers astray. 69 So they (too) were rushed down on their footsteps! 70 And indeed most of the men of old went astray before them; 71 though We had sent among them warners. 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 Save the bondmen of Allah sincere. 74
