۞ But We shall say, "Assemble those who did wrong together with their associates and what they worshipped 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 "But stop them, verily they are to be questioned. 24 “What is the matter with you, that you do not help one another?” 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 but [since it will be too late,] they will turn upon one another, demanding of each other [to relieve them of the burden of their past sins]. 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 They will answer, “You yourselves did not have faith!” 29 And we had no authority over you, but you were an inordinate people; 30 But now our Lord's word has come true against us: truly, we are bound to taste [the punishment]. 31 We led you astray as we were ourselves astray." 32 On that Day, they will all share the chastisement. 33 Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 and said: “Shall we forsake our deities for the sake of a distracted poet?” 36 "Surely, he has brought the truth, confirming those who were sent before; 37 (They will be told), "You will certainly suffer the painful torment 38 And ye shall be required not except for that which ye have been doing; 39 Save single-minded slaves of Allah; 40 For them is a Sustenance determined, 41 Fruits; and they will be honored 42 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise), 43 On thrones, facing each other. 44 Cups of wine will be presented to them in rounds, from a spring flowing in front of them. 45 Clear, delicious to drink, 46 Free from headiness; nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 and with them wide-eyed maidens restraining their glances 48 As if they were eggs, safely hidden. 49 They will turn to each other and ask questions. 50 A speaker among them will say, "Indeed, I had a companion [on earth] 51 Who used to say: Art thou in truth of those who put faith (in his words)? 52 after we die and become dust and bones, we shall be brought to judgement?'" 53 [And] he adds: "Would you like to look [and see him]?" 54 So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell]. 57 Then he will say [to his blessed companions], "Are we not going to die, 58 except for our first death, and are we not chastised? 59 Truly, this is a great victory!" 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum? 62 Verily We! We have made it a temptation for the wrong-doers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire: 64 Its fruit like the heads of demons. 65 So indeed they will eat from it, and fill their bellies with it. 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 These are the ones who found their fathers steeped in error, 69 and they are running in their footsteps. 70 Most of the ancient people had also gone astray. 71 though We had sent among them warners. 72 See how terrible was the end of those who were warned. 73 Save the bondmen of Allah sincere. 74
