۞ (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship 22 Beside Allah, and lead them on to the path of the Flaming Fire. 23 And detain them, for they will be questioned." 24 "How is it that [now] you cannot succour one another?" 25 Indeed, today they are surrendering themselves completely.” 26 And some of them will confront the others, 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 They will say: nay! ye yourselves were not believers. 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 and so we became deserving of the Word of our Lord that we shall be made to suffer chastisement. 31 And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators." 32 So this day they all are partners in the punishment. 33 Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals. 34 Surely they used to behave proudly when it was said to them: There is no god but Allah; 35 And said: "Should we abandon our gods for the sake of an insane poet?" 36 Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. 37 (They will be told): “You shall taste the grievous chastisement. 38 and be rewarded only according to your deeds." 39 But Allah's chosen servants (shall be spared this woeful end). 40 shall have a known provision -- 41 Fruits; and they shall be honoured, 42 in gardens of bliss, 43 On thrones facing one another. 44 Round them will be passed a cup of pure wine; 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 Neither dulling the senses nor intoxicating, 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 so delicate as the hidden peel under an egg's shell. 49 Then some of them will turn to others, and will ask each other. 50 one of them will say, "I had a friend, 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 after we die and become dust and bones, we shall be brought to judgement?'" 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 Then he will look down and see him in the midst of the Flaming Fire. 55 He will say, "By God! You almost brought me to ruin! 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)." 57 Then, are we not to die 58 Other than our first death, and we shall not be punished? 59 This is certainly the greatest triumph 60 For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work. 61 Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? 62 Verily We! We have made it a temptation for the wrong-doers. 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 and its fruits are like devils' heads. 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Washing it down with boiling water. 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 They found their father going astray 69 and [now] they make haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And verily most of the men of old went astray before them, 71 And assuredly We sent among them warners. 72 Then look how was the end of those who were warned - 73 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 74
