Jonah too was one of the messengers. 139 when he ran away to the laden ship 140 Then lots were drawn and he became of those who were pushed into the sea. 141 So the whale swallowed him, for he was blameworthy, 142 Had he not been one of those who glorify Allah, 143 he would certainly have remained in its belly till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ But We caused him to be cast forth on to the beach, sick as he was, 145 We made a plant of gourd grow up for him. 146 We sent him to a hundred thousand or more people. 147 and they believed; so We gave them enjoyment for a while. 148 (Muhammad), ask them, "Do daughters belong to your Lord and sons to them? 149 Have We created the angels as females before their very eyes? 150 Oh, verily, it is out of their own [inclination to] falsehood that some people assert, 151 "God has begotten (children)?" They are liars indeed! 152 "He has chosen daughters in preference to sons"! 153 What is the matter with you? How do you form your judgement? 154 Will you then not take heed? 155 Or do you have a clear authority? 156 Bring your Book, if what you say is true! 157 And they have invented a kinship between Him and the jinns, but the jinns know well that they have indeed to appear (before Him) (i.e. they will be brought for accounts). 158 Exaltations to Allah above what they describe, 159 Except the bondmen of Allah sincere. 160 So indeed, you [disbelievers] and whatever you worship, 161 you shall not tempt any against Him 162 except for he who shall roast in Hell. 163 There is not one of us (angels) but has his known place (or position); 164 “And indeed we, with our wings spread, await the command.” 165 and we are of those who glorify Allah.” 166 AND, INDEED, they [who deny the truth] have always been wont to say, 167 Had we a reminder from those of yore, 168 “We would certainly be the chosen bondmen of Allah.” 169 They have rejected the Quran. They will soon know the consequences (of their disbelief). 170 And certainly Our word has already gone forth in respect of Our servants, the apostles: 171 that they shall certainly be succoured, 172 And that Our host, they verily would be the victors. 173 So you ignore them for a time 174 and watch them. They, too, will watch. 175 Do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 176 When it comes down on their plains, it will be an evil dawn for those who had been warned. 177 So turn thou away from them for a little while, 178 And watch, for they will (soon) see. 179 Too glorious is your Lord, the Lord of power, for what they ascribe to Him. 180 So peace be on the messengers, 181 And all praise is to Allah, the Lord Of The Creation. 182
