And, verily, Yunus (Jonah) was one of the Messengers. 139 When he fled on the laden ship, 140 He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was condemned: 141 And the fish swallowed him while he was blameworthy; 142 Had he not been one of those who struggled hard, 143 He would have stayed in its belly till the day the dead are raised. 144 ۞ We cast him out of the fish unto dry land and he was sick. 145 And We caused to grow over him a tree, a gourd. 146 And We had sent him to a hundred thousand: rather they exceeded. 147 So they accepted faith – We therefore gave them usage for a while. 148 Now ask thou them: are there for thy Lord daughters and for them sons? 149 Did We create the angels as females the while they witnessed?” 150 It is only because of their false invention that they say, 151 "God has begotten children." They are truly liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What ails you then, how you judge? 154 Will ye not then receive admonition? 155 Or do you have a clear authority? 156 Bring your Book, if you are truthful. 157 And some people have invented a kinship between Him and all manner of invisible forces although [even] these invisible forces know well that, verily, they [who thus blaspheme against God] shall indeed be arraigned [before Him on Judgment Day: for] 158 Glorified be Allah from that which they attribute (unto Him), 159 Not thus, however, [behave] God's true servants: 160 for, verily, neither you [blasphemers] nor the objects of your worship 161 Can mislead anyone away from Him, 162 except those who are doomed to enter hell. 163 As for us, there is none but has an appointed station. 164 Verily, we (angels), we stand in rows for the prayers (as you Muslims stand in rows for your prayers); 165 And indeed, we are those who exalt Allah." 166 And indeed they (Arab pagans) used to say; 167 "If only we had had before us a Message from those of old, 168 “We would certainly be the chosen bondmen of Allah.” 169 They therefore denied it, so they will soon come to know. 170 Our Word had already preceded Our worshipers, the Messengers, 171 will certainly be victorious 172 and that Our hosts shall triumph. 173 So, (O Prophet), leave them alone for a while, 174 And watch them, for they will soon see. 175 Our torment seek they to hasten on! 176 So when it does descend in their courtyards – so what an evil morning it will be for those who were warned! 177 So turn (O Muhammad SAW) away from them for a while, 178 And watch, for they will (soon) see. 179 Glorified be your Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they attribute unto Him! 180 Peace be with the Messengers (of God). 181 and praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being. 182
