We did not create heaven and earth and all that is between them in vain. That is the opinion of those who deny the truth. Woe betide those who deny the truth, when they are cast into the Fire -- 27 shall We treat those who believe and do good works the same as those who spread corruption in the land; shall We treat the pious the same as the wicked? 28 [This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded. 29 And We bestowed Sulaiman to Dawud; what an excellent bondman! He is indeed most inclined. 30 When well-bred horses, which were fleet of foot were paraded before him near the close of day, 31 He said: verily I have loved the love of earthly good above the remembrance of my Lord until the sun hath disappeared behind the veil. 32 Bring them back unto me; and he set about slashing their legs and necks. 33 But [ere this,] indeed, We had tried Solomon by placing upon his throne a [lifeless] body; and thereupon he turned [towards Us; and] 34 He said, “My Lord! Forgive me and bestow upon me a kingdom, which shall not befit anyone after me; indeed only You are the Great Bestower.” 35 So we subjugated the wind to his service which carried his merchandise wheresoever he wished; 36 as well as all the rebellious forces [that We made to work for him] - every kind of builder and diver 37 and others that were bound with chains. 38 We said: "This is Our gift, so give or withhold as you wish without reckoning." 39 And he has a place near to Us, and a fine return. 40
