We have not created the heavens and earth, and what between them is, for vanity; such is the thought of the unbelievers, wherefore woe unto the unbelievers because of the Fire! 27 Or shall We make those who believe and do righteous deeds as the workers of corruption in the earth, or shall We make the godfearing as the transgressors? 28 This is a Book which We have sent down upon you, a blessed Book, for them to ponder upon its verses, and for men of intellect to accept advice. 29 We granted Solomon to David, a blessed servant of Ours and certainly the most repentant person. 30 And when one evening well-trained and running horses of noble breed were brought to him 31 And he said, "Indeed, I gave preference to the love of good [things] over the remembrance of my Lord until the sun disappeared into the curtain [of darkness]." 32 "Bring them back to me." then began he to pass his hand over (their) legs and their necks. 33 Certainly We tried Solomon, and We cast upon his throne a mere body; then he repented. 34 He said: 'Forgive me my Lord, and give me a kingdom the like of which will not befall any after me, surely, You are the Giver' 35 We subjected the wind to him, so that it blew gently at his bidding, wherever he directed it, 36 and the satans, every builder and diver 37 and others that were bound with chains. 38 "This is Our gift," (We said to him), "so bestow freely or withhold without reckoning." 39 Indeed an exalted position of nearness awaits him and an excellent resort. 40
