Whatever affliction may visit you is for what you own hands have earned; and He pardons much. 30 You cannot frustrate Him in the earth; you have no protector nor helper against Allah. 31 And of His portents are the ships, like banners on the sea; 32 If He wills, He causes the wind to cease, then they would become motionless on the back (of the sea). Verily, in this are signs for everyone patient and grateful. 33 Or He could destroy them for what they earned; but He pardons much. 34 those who dispute Our signs shall learn that they have no escape. 35 AND [remember that] whatever you are given [now] is but for the [passing] enjoyment of life in this world - whereas that which is with God is far better and more enduring. [It shall be given] to all who attain to faith and in their Sustainer place their trust; 36 (This reward will be for) those who keep away from major sins and indecency, who forgive when they are made angry, 37 who respond to their Lord and attend to their prayers; who conduct their affairs by mutual consultation and spend out of what We have provided for them; 38 and who, when insolence visits them, do help themselves -- 39 The retribution of a harmful deed is the harm equal to it; so whoever forgives and makes amends, so his reward is upon Allah; indeed He does not befriend the unjust. 40 And whosoever harms after he has been harmed there is no blame upon them. 41 Reproach is only against those who oppress people, and wrongfully spread rebellion in the land; for them is a painful punishment. 42 But indeed if any show patience and forgive, that would truly be an exercise of courageous will and resolution in the conduct of affairs. 43
