۞ And when a description of the son of Marium is given, lo! your people raise a clamor thereat. 57 saying, "Are our gods better or him?" -- they cite him only to challenge you: they are a contentious people -- 58 He was no more than a servant: We granted Our favour to him, and We made him an example to the Children of Israel. 59 And if We willed, We could have made [instead] of you angels succeeding [one another] on the earth. 60 AND, BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a means to know [that] the Last Hour [is bound to come]; hence, have no doubt whatever about it, but follow Me: this [alone] is a straight way. 61 Let not Satan hinder you (from believing in the Hour), for surely he is your open enemy. 62 And when 'Iesa (Jesus) came with (Our) clear Proofs, he said: "I have come to you with Al-Hikmah (Prophethood), and in order to make clear to you some of the (points) in which you differ, therefore fear Allah and obey me, 63 "Verily, God is my Sustainer as well as your Sustainer; so worship [none but] Him: this [alone] is a straight way!" 64 But the factions differed among themselves. Woe alas to the sinners for the torment of the grievous Day! 65 Are they awaiting anything other than the Last Hour that it should suddenly come upon them without their even perceiving it? 66 Friends on that day shall be foes to one another, but the god-fearing. 67
