And indeed We saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment, 30 Inflicted by Pharaoh, for he was arrogant (even) among inordinate transgressors. 31 and We chose them, out of a knowledge above the nations (of their time). 32 And We gave them of signs that in which there was a clear trial. 33 Verily these! they say: 34 "There is not but our first death, and we will not be resurrected. 35 Bring back our fathers, if ye speak the truth! 36 Are they better, or the people of Tubba' and those before them whom We destroyed? They were surely sinners. 37 It was not in idle sport that We created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. 38 We did not create them except with the truth, but most of them do not know. 39 Verily, the Day of Judgement (when Allah will judge between the creatures) is the time appointed for all of them, 40 A day when friend can in naught avail friend, nor can they be helped, 41 except those to whom Allah shows mercy. He is the Most Mighty, the Most Compassionate. 42
