Hath the story of Abraham's honoured guests reached thee (O Muhammad)? 24 When they entered unto him, saying 'Peace!' he said 'Peace! You are a people unknown to me.' 25 Then he turned to his household, so brought out a roasted calf [as the property of Ibrahim (Abraham) was mainly cows]. 26 He set it before them, saying: 'Will you not eat' 27 He began to feel afraid. They said, "Do not be afraid," and then gave him the glad news of the birth of a knowledgeable son. 28 But his wife came forward (laughing) aloud: she smote her forehead and said: "A barren old woman!" 29 They said: Thus says your Lord: Surely He is the Wise, the Knowing. 30 ۞ [Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?" 31 They answered: "Behold, we have been sent unto a people lost in sin, 32 so that we may bring down upon them a shower of stones of clay, 33 "Marked as from thy Lord for those who trespass beyond bounds." 34 And in the course of time We brought out [of Lot 's city] such [few] believers as were there: 35 But We found not there any household of the Muslims except one [i.e. Lout (Lot) and his two daughters]. 36 And We left behind therein a portent for those who fear a painful doom. 37 There is also a Sign for you in the story of Moses when We sent him with a clear authority to Pharaoh. 38 In response, he turned away along with his army and said, “He is a magician or a madman.” 39 Then We seized him and his army and cast them all into the sea: he himself [Pharaoh] was to blame. 40 In 'Ad (also is a sign), when We sent a blasting wind against them, 41 It did not leave aught on which it blew, but it made it like ashes. 42 And in Thamud, when We said to them: "Enjoy yourselves for a while;" 43 But they brazenly disobeyed their Lord's command, and then a sudden chastisement overtook them while they looked on. 44 So they were neither able to stand up, nor were they able to take revenge. 45 And the people of Noah before; surely they were an ungodly people. 46
