Has there reached you the story of the honored guests of Abraham? - 24 When they came to him, they said: “Peace”; he said: “Peace also be to you; (you seem to be) a group of strangers.” 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, and brought a fatted calf, 26 So he brought it near them. He said: What! will you not eat? 27 [And when he saw that the guests would not eat,] he became apprehensive of them; [but] they said, "Fear not" - and gave him the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son who would be endowed with deep knowledge. 28 And his wife approached with a cry [of alarm] and struck her face and said, "[I am] a barren old woman!" 29 "Such is the will of your Lord," they replied. "He is the Wise, the All Knowing." 30 ۞ He said: what then is your errand! O ye sent ones! 31 They said: Surely we are sent to a guilty people, 32 so that we may bring down upon them a shower of stones of clay, 33 "Marked as from thy Lord for those who trespass beyond bounds." 34 So We brought out whoever was in the cities of the believers. 35 but We found not therein except one house of those that have surrendered themselves. 36 We left a sign in this for those who fear the grievous punishment, 37 And in Musa also was a lesson, when We sent him unto Fir'awn with authority manifest. 38 But he turned away with his forces and said: A magician or a mad man. 39 So We seized him and his hosts and hurled them into the sea and he was blamable. 40 And in (the tribe of) A'ad (there is a portent) when we sent the fatal wind against them. 41 It spared nothing that it reached, but blew it into broken spreads of rotten ruins. 42 And in [the story of the tribe of] Thamud, too, when they were told, "You shall enjoy your life for [but] a little while," 43 But they rebelled against their Lord's decree, and so the thunderbolt overtook them even while they gazed; 44 they could not stand up again, nor could they defend themselves. 45 And the people of Nuh before, surely they were a transgressing people. 46
