Hath the story of Abraham's honoured guests reached thee (O Muhammad)? 24 When they came to him and said, “Peace”; he answered, “Peace”; and thought, “These people are not familiar.” 25 Then he went to his home – so he brought a healthy calf. 26 and placed it before them, saying, "Will you not eat?" 27 [And when he saw that the guests would not eat,] he became apprehensive of them; [but] they said, "Fear not" - and gave him the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son who would be endowed with deep knowledge. 28 Then his wife came up in great grief, and she struck her face and said: An old barren woman! 29 "Such is the will of your Lord," they replied. "He is the Wise, the All Knowing." 30 ۞ Abraham said: “Envoys (of Allah), what is your errand?” 31 They said: Lo! we are sent unto a guilty folk, 32 That we may send down upon them stone of clay, 33 marked by your Lord upon those who go beyond the limits.” 34 So We evacuated everyone who was a believer there, 35 – and We did not find there any, apart from a single house of Muslims – 36 We left therein evidence for those who fear the painful torment. 37 There is another sign in Moses: We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 but he turned his back, with his court, saying, 'A sorcerer, or a man possessed!' 39 So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea, and he was blameworthy. 40 And in the tribe of A’ad, when we sent a dry windstorm upon them. 41 It left nothing whatever that it came up against, but reduced it to ruin and rottenness. 42 And in the Thamud (was another Sign): Behold, they were told, "Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!" 43 after they had turned with disdain from their Sustainer's commandment - whereupon the thunderbolt of punishment overtook them while they were [helplessly] looking on: 44 So they were not able to stand, nor could they help themselves. 45 And before them the nation of Noah, indeed they were a debauched nation. 46
