The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount Sinai, 1 By the book inscribed. 2 In a Scroll unfolded; 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 The roof raised high, 5 Consider the surf-swollen sea! 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 [It will come to pass] on the Day when the skies will be convulsed in [a great] convulsion, 9 and the mountains will move with [an awesome] movement. 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 such as play at plunging, 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." 16 [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. 18 Eat and drink with relish for that which ye have been working. 19 They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. 20 And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith – We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. 21 And We provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home. 26 Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind. 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
