The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? 1 Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. 2 Verily, We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. 3 Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze. 4 The virtuous ones will drink from a cup containing camphor 5 This will be a gushing spring wherefrom Allah's servants shall drink wine, a spring from which they will take out channels wherever they wish. 6 These will be the ones who fulfil their vows and dread the Day whose woe shall be spread far and wide; 7 And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, 8 Saying: we feed you only for the sake of Allah; we desire not from you any recompense or thanks. 9 we fear from our Lord a Day that shall be long and distressful.” 10 Therefore Allah will guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness; 11 For their patience, He will reward them with Paradise and silk. 12 Reclining there upon couches, they shall see neither the sun nor the moon. 13 The shadows will bend over them, and low will hang the clusters of grapes. 14 They will be served with silver dishes and crystal clear goblets. 15 crystal of silver that they have measured -- very exactly. 16 There are they watered with a cup whereof the mixture is of Zanjabil, 17 A fountain there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And immortal youths will wait upon them: when thou seest them, thou wouldst deem them to be scattered pearls; 19 When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. 20 Upon those [blest] will be garments of green silk and brocade; and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. And their Sustainer will them to drink of a drink most pure. 21 "Verily this is a Reward for you, and your Endeavour is accepted and recognised." 22
