The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Mount, 1 by the book (Torah) written 2 in a parchment unrolled, 3 by the Visited House, 4 And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). 5 and by the swelling sea: 6 surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. 9 And the mountains will fly hither and thither. 10 Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, 11 and amuse themselves with vain argumentation. 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 Is this, then, any feat of magic or are you unable to see? 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss 17 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious; 26 So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. 27 "Truly, we did call unto Him from of old: truly it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful!" 28
