The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Mount; 1 and a Book inscribed 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 And the House frequented, 4 And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). 5 and the sea that is full 6 Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. 7 there is none to prevent it. 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 And the mountains shall pass away passing away (altogether). 10 Then woe that Day to the beliers; 11 That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. 12 A day when they will be pushed, forcibly shoved towards the fire of hell. 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 Is this, then, any feat of magic or are you unable to see? 15 Endure it [now]! But [whether you] bear yourselves with patience or without patience, it will be the same to you: you are but being requited for what you were wont to do." 16 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 [And they will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer as an outcome of what you were wont to do, 19 (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. 20 And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We will aid them with fruit and flesh such as they desire. 22 They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home. 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 "Truly, we did call unto Him from of old: truly it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful!" 28
