The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount, 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 By the much-frequented Fane; 4 And the roof exalted, 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, 7 Of it there is no averter. 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains will move away with an awful movement. 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 such as play at plunging, 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,- 17 Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire. 18 "Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for your good deeds," 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 They will say: "Behold, aforetime - when we were [still living] in the midst of our kith and kin - we were full of fear [at the thought of God's displeasure]: 26 But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: 27 Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
