Wherefore admonish thou! thou art not, by the grace of thy Lord, a soothsayer or a madman. 29 Or say they: a poet for whom we wait some adverse turn of fortune! 30 Say (O Muhammad SAW to them): "Wait! I am with you, among the waiters!" 31 Nay! do their understandings bid them this? Or are they an inordinate people? 32 Or say they: he hath fabricated it: aye they will not believe. 33 But then, [if they deem it the work of a mere mortal,] let them produce another discourse like it - if what they say be true! 34 [Or do they deny the existence of God?] Have they themselves been created without anything [that might have caused their creation]? or were they, perchance, their own creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they are sure of nothing! 36 Or do they have your Lord's treasures in their keeping? Or have absolute authority over them? 37 Or have they the means by which they listen? Then let their listener bring a clear authority. 38 Do the daughters belong to Him and the sons to you? 39 Or, do you ask them for a wage, so that they become weighed down in debt? 40 Or that the Ghaib (unseen) is with them, and they write it down? 41 Seek they to lay a plot? Then those who disbelieve it is they who shall be plotted against. 42 Or have they a god other than Allah? Exalted is Allah far above the things they associate with Him! 43 AND YET, if they [who refuse to see the truth] were to see part of the sky falling down, they would [only] say: "[It is but] a mass of clouds!" 44 So leave them alone until they face the day when they will be struck dead from terror 45 the Day when none of their scheming will be of the least avail to them, and they will receive no succour. 46 And verily, for those who do wrong, there is a punishment beyond that. But most of them know not. 47 And so, await in patience thy Sustainer's judgment, for thou art well within Our sight. And extol thy Sustainer's limitless glory and praise whenever thou risest up, 48 and extol His glory at night, and at the time when the stars retreat. 49
