And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
