The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the setting star, 1 your companion is neither astray, neither errs, 2 Nor does he speak out of desire. 3 Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, 4 and taught to him 5 and endowed with wisdom; who in time manifested himself; 6 appearing in the horizon's loftiest part, 7 Then he approached and descended 8 until he was two bow-lengths away or even closer 9 And He revealed to His servant what He revealed. 10 His (Muhammad's) heart did not lie to him about what his eyes had seen. 11 Will ye therefore dispute with him concerning that which he hath seen? 12 And certainly he saw him in another descent, 13 At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary - 14 Nigh thereto is the Garden of Abode. 15 When the lote-tree was being enveloped, by whatever around it. 16 The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). 17 Indeed he saw the supreme signs of his Lord. 18 Have you then considered Al-Lat, and Al-'Uzza (two idols of the pagan Arabs). 19 and, another, the third manat? 20 Do sons belong to you and daughters to God? 21 That is indeed an unjust division. 22 these are nothing but names which you yourselves have devised, you and your forefathers. God has sent down no authority for them. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own selves desire, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord! 23 Can ever man get what he desires? 24 All that is in the life to come and all that is in this life belongs only to God. 25
