The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the setting star, 1 That your companion is not confused, nor has he gone astray, 2 Nor does he speak from [his own] inclination. 3 It is only an Inspiration that is inspired. 4 something that a very powerful one has imparted to him, 5 The Lord of Strength; so he attained completion, 6 the strong one who appeared on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then he drew near and drew closer 8 So the distance between the Spectacle and the beloved was only two arms’ length, or even less. (The Heavenly Journey of Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him – was with body and soul.) 9 so (Allah) revealed to His worshiper (Gabriel) that which he revealed (to Prophet Muhammad). 10 The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw. 11 What! So do you dispute with him regarding what he saw? 12 And indeed he (Muhammad SAW) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] at a second descent (i.e. another time). 13 Near the Lote-tree beyond which none may pass: 14 close to the Garden of Refuge. 15 (This was) when the lote-tree was covered with that which covered it. 16 The eye turned not aside nor yet was overbold. 17 Indeed he saw some of the greatest signs of His Lord. 18 (Can anything as such be considered true) of al-Lat, al-Uzza, 19 And Manat, the other third (of the pagan deities)? 20 Why - for yourselves [you would choose only] male offspring, whereas to Him [you assign] female: 21 That indeed is a division unfair! 22 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from their Lord hath come unto them. 23 Can the human being have whatever he wishes? 24 despite the fact that [both] the life to come and this present [one] belong to God [alone]? 25
