Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 And he gave a little, then refrained? 34 Does he have knowledge of the unseen, so he sees? 35 Or, has he not been told of that which is in the Scrolls of Moses 36 and of Abraham, who to his trust was true: 37 that no soul shall bear the burden of another; 38 And that man will not obtain anything except what he strove for? 39 And that his striving shall soon be seen- 40 Then shall he be rewarded for it with the fullest reward- 41 And that to your Lord is the goal- 42 That it is He Who granteth Laughter and Tears; 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 And that He createth the two spouses, the male and the female, 45 of a sperm-drop, when it was cast forth, 46 and that [therefore] it is within His power to bring about a second life; 47 And that it is He who enriches and suffices 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius (the Mighty Star); 49 It is He who utterly destroyed the ancient tribes of Ad, 50 and Thamood, sparing no one, 51 And the folk of Noah aforetime, Lo! they were more unjust and more rebellious; 52 And that it is He Who threw down the upturned townships? 53 Then covered them with that which covered them. 54 Then which of the favors of your Lord do you doubt? 55 This is a warning among the warnings of yore. 56 The Approaching Day has approached. 57 Of it, [from those] besides Allah, there is no remover. 58 So are you surprised at this fact? 59 And will you laugh and not weep? 60 while you make merry? 61 Therefore prostrate for Allah, and worship Him.
