The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Last Hour draws near and the moon is split asunder. 1 And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic." 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 And certainly some narratives have come to them wherein is prevention-- 4 Mature wisdom;- but (the preaching of) Warners profits them not. 5 So turn thou away from them. Upon the day when the Caller shall call unto a horrible thing, 6 Their eyes cast down, going forth from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 They shall be hurrying forth towards the caller, and the unbelievers (who had once denied this Day), will say: “This is a woeful Day.” 8 ۞ The people of Noah cried lies before them; they cried lies to Our servant, and said, 'A man possessed!' And he was rejected. 9 Then he supplicated to his Lord, (saying): 'I am overcome, help me' 10 Thereupon We opened the gates of the sky for water to pour down, 11 And We made the earth break forth with springs; so that the water met for an affair already decreed. 12 And We bare him on a thing of planks and nails. 13 running before Our eyes-a recompense for him denied. 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 And how severe is the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded! 16 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 17 Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 18 We sent a tumultuous wind against them on a day of unremitting misfortune, 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 21 We have made the Qur'an easy to derive lessons from. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 22
