And the Thamud belied the warnings. 23 And said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness. 24 "Is it that the Message is sent to him, of all people amongst us? Nay, he is a liar, an insolent one!" 25 They shall know tomorrow whichsoever is a liar insolent. 26 Verily We are sending the she-camel as a test for them, so watch them thou and have patience. 27 And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them. Every drinking will be witnessed. 28 But they called their companion, so he took (the sword) and slew (her). 29 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 30 We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. 31 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 32 The folk of Lot rejected warnings. 33 Lo! We sent a storm of stones upon them (all) save the family of Lot, whom We rescued in the last watch of the night, 34 As a favour from Us. That is how We reward the grateful. 35 For he had truly warned them of Our punishing might; but they stubbornly cast doubt on these warnings, 36 They even asked of him his guests for an ill purpose. Then We blinded their eyes (and said): Taste now My punishment after My warnings! 37 One early morning Our torment brought upon them utter destruction. 38 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 39 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 40

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
