Thamood, too, belied Our warnings. 23 So they said, “What! Shall we follow a man from among us? If we do, we are indeed astray, and insane!” 24 Why - on him alone from among all of us should a [divine] reminder have been bestowed? Nay, but he is a boastful liar!" 25 Ah! they will know on the morrow, which is the liar, the insolent one! 26 Behold, [O Salih] We are letting loose this she-camel as a test for them; and thou but watch them, and contain thyself in patience. 27 And tell them that the water is to be divided between them, each drink for each in turn. 28 But they call their comrade and he took and hamstrung (her). 29 How was then My punishment of which they had been warned? 30 Behold, We let loose upon them one single blast [of Our punishment,] and they became like the dried-up, crumbling twigs of a sheepfold. 31 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 32 The people of Lut belied the warnings. 33 We sent against them a violent Tornado with showers of stones, (which destroyed them), except Lut's household: them We delivered by early Dawn,- 34 As a Grace from Us: thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 And he [Lout (Lot)] indeed had warned them of Our Grasp, but they did doubt the warnings! 36 And they even sought to snatch away his guests from him, but We blinded their eyes. (They heard:) "Now taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 37 and early in the morning the punishment decreed overtook them -- 38 "Taste My punishment now that you have scorned My warnings!" 39 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 40
