The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 It is He Who has taught the Qur'an. 2 He has created man: 3 Taught him the mode of expression. 4 The sun and the moon run on their fixed courses (exactly) calculated with measured out stages for each (for reckoning, etc.). 5 And the herbs and the trees - both (alike) prostrate in adoration. 6 And the skies has He raised high, and has devised [for all things] a measure, 7 That ye should not trespass in respect of the balance. 8 So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance. 9 It is He Who has spread out the earth for (His) creatures: 10 Therein are fruits, date-palms producing sheathed fruit-stalks (enclosing dates). 11 And the grain with (its) husk and fragrance. 12 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord, will ye twain belie? 13 He created man from clay like [that of] pottery. 14 And created jinn from the flame of fire. 15 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 16 Lord of the East and Lord of the West. 17 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 18 He hath loosed the two seas. They meet. 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 21 Pearls and coral-stone come forth from them. 22 Which, of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 23 And His are the lofty ships that sail like [floating] mountains through the seas. 24 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 25
