The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Merciful One 1 Taught the Qur'an, 2 He has created man: 3 Has taught him the knowledge of the past and the future. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning, 5 The plants and trees prostrate before Him. 6 And the heaven! He hath elevated it, and He hath set the balance. 7 In order that you may not corrupt the balance. 8 Give just weight and do not skimp the scales. 9 And He has set up the earth for all beings. 10 In which are fruits, and covered dates. 11 Also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 13 He created man (Adam) from sounding clay like the clay of pottery. 14 and has created the jinn from the flame of fire. 15 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 16 He is Lord of the two easts and Lord of the two wests. 17 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 18 He has set the two oceans in motion, converging together. 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you then deny? 21 From them come forth the pearl and the coral. 22 Which, of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 23 By His command, the ships with raised masts sail on the sea like mountains. 24 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you then deny? 25
