The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 Taught the Qur'an, 2 He has created man: 3 [And] taught him eloquence. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning, 5 the stars and the trees bend in prostration. 6 And the sky He hath uplifted; and He hath set the measure, 7 that you may not transgress in the balance, 8 But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof. 9 And earth -- He set it down for all beings, 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees with their dates in sheaths, 11 And grain having husks and scented plants. 12 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 13 He created man of clay like, unto pottery. 14 And He created Jinns from fire free of smoke: 15 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 16 Lord of the Two Easts, Lord of the Two Wests, 17 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 18 He has let free the two bodies of flowing water, meeting together: 19 Between them is a Barrier which they do not transgress: 20 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 21 From both of them emerge pearl and coral. 22 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 23 His are the ships with elevated sails upon the sea like mountains. 24 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 25
