The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He has created man: 3 He taught him eloquent speech. 4 The sun and the moon move according to a fixed reckoning; 5 [before Him] prostrate themselves the stars and the trees. 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 That ye exceed not the measure, 8 And observe the weight with equity, and make not deficient the balance. 9 He set down the earth for the creation. 10 Therein are fruits and palm trees with sheaths, 11 Also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Which favors of your Lord will you both (humans and jinn) belie? 13 He created man of fermented clay dried tinkling hard like earthen ware, 14 And the jinn did He create of smokeless fire. 15 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie 16 (He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). 17 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 18 He has made the two seas to flow freely (so that) they meet together: 19 Between them is a barrier [so] neither of them transgresses. 20 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 21 Out of them come pearls and coral. 22 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord would you then deny? 23 To Him only belong the sailing ships, raised above the sea like hills. 24 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 25
