The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and a few from later times. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and flowing water 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
