The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 and a few from later times. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit abundant. 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
