The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and serried acacias, 29 And shade extended 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
