The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 a host of the ancients 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and serried acacias, 29 And extended shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits abounding 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 and upraised couches. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
